Bishop Burton College is hosting the highly prestigious FEI Pony European Championships at its campus near Beverley.
The event, which is free to attend from August 8 - 12, is the only equine competition of its kind to include all three Olympic disciplines of eventing, dressage and showjumping.
It will feature the finest young riding talent from across Europe, with competitors aged 16 or under from 17 countries taking part in individual and team events.
Prize giving ceremonies will take place throughout the week, with ‘horse ball’ matches during the evenings.
College Chief Executive and Principal, Bill Meredith, said: “We are extremely proud to be hosting this prestigious event.
“To be the host venue for an event featuring the finest young riders across Europe is a real privilege and something everyone at the college is very much looking forward to.
“We were chosen as the host venue because of our outstanding equine facilities and expertise and I very much hope as many as people as possible will come along to enjoy what promises to be a wonderful occasion.”
The college was chosen to be the host venue by the FEI (Federation Equestre Internationale), which is the international governing body, following a competitive bidding process.
It previously hosted the competition in 2010 – the last time it was held in the UK – when the British eventing team rode to victory to secure the team gold in front of a home crowd.
