The Bishop Burton College Equestrian Centre is a British Horse Society (BHS) approved riding school and examination centre. It is also a BHS ‘Where to Train’ centre, up to BHSI level.
The centre boasts three indoor arenas, including the Bishop Burton Arena, and four outdoor arenas.
It has an extremely busy calendar and the college relishes hosting a wide variety of affiliated and unaffiliated competitions, as well as working with our local pony club and riding club contacts, and hosting national conferences and a variety of other clients.
The college’s British Showjumping Pony Premier has grown each year and attracted 400 competitors in 2016. The Pony Club National Tetrathlon Championships has been hosted by the college since 2013 and attracts more than 200 competitors who stay on site with their families for the week.
The facilities have been developed to meet high standards and, as such, the college was proud to have been approved as an equestrian training base for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Bishop Burton’s facilities now feature in the 2012 Pre-Games Training Camp Guide, which will be used by National Olympic Committees (NOCs) when selecting their training bases for the run-up to, and during the games.
The College was proud to have hosted the FEI Pony European Championships in 2010 and the FEI European Junior Championships in 2014. Since then, Bishop Burton has developed the site further to enhance the delivery of international competitions on this scale.
