Built to the highest standards, the £3million Bishop Burton Arena was opened in 2008 by HRH Princess Anne and is the College’s largest single building.
The impressive arena has a working surface of 65m X 35m, which benefits from the latest dust-free wax / sand surface and is suitable for all disciplines.
Designed to hold major competitions and events, as well as lectures and practical demonstrations, the arena includes seating for 500 spectators, five meeting rooms, a catering outlet, commentary boxes, state-of-the-art PA system, therapy and demonstration rooms with viewing galleries and VIP hospitality areas. It also complies with current Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) regulations to include three lifts within the complex. All areas are accessible to all.
This versatile facility is used for conventions, conferences and lecture demonstrations, as well as top-class competitions.
The arena lounge serves as an official base, a conference room or as a hospitality facility. There are permanent toilets and showers, which are all accessible via lifts and stairs or are situated on the ground floor. Ground floor showers and toilets, including disability adapted, are all part of the Bishop Burton College infrastructure.
